The Philadelphia Eagles are sitting atop the NFL at 2-0. The wins have not been pretty, but nonetheless they have been W's. The first two games have exacted a hefty price on the Eagles in terms of injuries. Center and leader of the offensive line Jason Kelce has been placed on Injured Reserve with a torn ACL and will miss the entire season. Tackle King Dunlap will be out this week with a hamstring injury. Two of the five starting offensive lineman are out which will not be good for keeping Michael Vick off the ground.
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is also out this week after aggravating his hip pointer last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Riley Cooper is still recovering from his broken collarbone and will not play against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. Jason Avant will play this week, but he is nursing a wrist injury. DeSean Jackson was a limited participant in practice this week, but all signs point to him playing this week. The receivers are banged up, but young players like Damaris Johnson and Mardy Gilyard are ready to step in and make plays in the absence of Maclin and Cooper.
The defense is not nearly as banged up as the offense. Colt Anderson has had some knee issues this week that limited his practice time, but Coach Reid expects him to play. Anderson is the teams second string safety behind Kurt Coleman. Second year cornerback Curtis Marsh practiced this week with a hamstring injury. Marsh will likely play this week despite not being 100%. Marsh was inactive last week due to the injury. He is the primary backup for the Nhamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
With the offense banged up, a fierce Cardinals defense, and the Eagles propensity for close games the matchup this week figures to be one to watch. Kickoff at 4:05 pm EST.
