The tragic death of Garrett Reid was due to an accidental heroin overdose according to the coroner. Coach Andy Reid's son, Garrett, had a history of drug problems, but appeared to be doing well. However, the coroner stated that Garrett Reid's body showed signs of chronic drug use. In the Lehigh dormitory where Reid's body was discovered, investigators found 47 syringes, 65 needles, and 19 vials of an unknown liquid. Initially after Garrett's death, coach Andy Reid stated that Garrett had lost the battle that was ongoing for eight years. Suggesting Andy Reid suspected it was drug related.
The coroner's findings were announced to the public yesterday. Eagles nation has been supportive of the Reid family through this tough time. The Reid family is no stranger to trouble. Both Garrett Reid and Britt Reid (younger brother) were arrested on the same night in 2007 due to separate drug related incidents. Garrett Reid went on to make a statement to the judge that he did not want to die from doing drugs. It is very sad to see Garrett Reid's life end at the young age of 29. Prayers and thoughts to the Reid family.
